With less than three weeks to go before its global release, Peter Jackson’s ninth production video for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey shows the final stages of post production. The video starts with footage of the infamous Bunny Sled (it’s like he knows I don’t dig it) and covers the ongoing CGI effects work and the recording of Howard Shore’s soundtrack, which although not officially released yet, has been leaked on the internet. The score itself is extremely good and has a great sense of musical continuity with The Lord of the Rings (allegedly).
It would appear that work will continue on the movie right the the way up to the eve of the première in Wellington on 28th November. It will be interesting to see what sort of marketing campaign there will be for the movie. I have a suspicion that for the next few weeks you will not be able to go anywhere or turn on your TV without The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey turning up. Will it break this years box office records set by The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall? I have a suspicion that it will. If you haven’t booked your ticket yet then I would suggest that you do.
