Dragon Timer

I recently discovered the three recurring Dragon events in Guild Wars 2. The Shaterrer in Blazeridge Steppes, Tequatl The Sunless in Sparkfly Fen and Claw of Jormag in Frostgorge Sound. All these event are challenging and require a great deal of teamwork. However these epic battles also offer a chance to win some interesting loot. It doesn’t happen all the time but I have acquired some rare and even exotic items. I would therefore recommend these events to all players as it certainly adds an extra dimension to an already innovative and enjoyable game.

Now these Dragons events along with others run on a timed schedule. Therefore it can be somewhat hit or miss ensuring that you are in the right place at the right  time. Unless you use the Dragon Timer over at Guild Wars Temple. This ingenious web based utility and phone/tablet app allows you to pick the server that you play on and keep track of the Dragons next expected appearance. It is simple and extremely useful for managing your Guild Wars 2 activities. Furthermore it is a free service.

Now this is work in progress and the timers are not 100% bullet proof. Hence there is the option to notify Guild Wars Temple when an event has finished so they can fine tune their systems. I would urge players that use this app to do just that, so that the developers can improve  and refine the service. They are promising an embedded version for Guild sites in the foreseeable future, along with wider coverage of other world events within the game. It all sounds very promising.

It is important to support such undertakings as this to ensure a healthy and dynamic gaming community. The Dragon Timer really is a useful, practical tool and the developers deserve a round of applause for all their hard work. The alternative to home-grown apps such as this are commercially created one with a price tag and I’m sure we’d all rather not go down that road. So please support Guild Wars Temple and the Dragon Timer.
