Boromir’s Last Stand – The Devil is in the Details?

by

Turbine posted another track on You Tube today from the Riders of Rohan expansion today. You don’t need me to tell you how good it is. Now I wasn’t going to go out of my way to re-post this information until I read a throw away remark in the notes by Chance Thomas. It reads as follows and if taken on face value offers a very interesting nugget of information.

“This track was composed to underscore the Boromir game instance, with players taking on the role of Boromir as he battles hordes of Uruk Hai in a desperate attempt to save Merry and Pippin”.

So does this mean that we will be able to play as Boromir via session play? That sounds like a lot of fun and will certainly appeal to a great many fans of the game, if true. Naturally we should temper our expectations as with anything to do with Turbine. We have learnt a hard lesson in the last year not to fill in any gaps in the information with our own suppositions. Assumption makes an ass out of etc. etc. ( I have to fight the urge to make a Yul Brynner gag at this point).

I am a great fan of the use of session play in LOTRO and think it is a clever and engaging way to allow players to participate in key events in the stories mythology without breaking the lore. I also like the fact that you can repeat play these sessions via the Chronicle of Events which can befound at The Spire of Meeting in Rivendell. Perhaps we will get official clarification as to what constitutes as “the Boromir game instance” in the next few days
