Bad Day For Turbine? The Farmers Faire Delayed & Undelivered Invites

by

How do you define a bad day? Well it’s all somewhat subjective, but I wonder if this meets the criteria? Turbine announced at 15:47 GMT that the Farmers Faire which due to launch today, has been postponed. This was due to “last minute issues” and as a result the event has been delayed until 26th July. Exactly what these issues are and whether they can be resolved within a week remains to be seen. The only thing I’d venture to say is don’t developers test anything any more?

Talking of tests, it would appear that there were “problems” with the recent beta invites that Turbine were mailing to all the lucky participants. According to a post on the unofficial LOTRO forums, not all email invitations got through. So there could well be players who are entitled to join the beta test and don’t know about it.

Sapience has allegedly said that a lot of emails were undeliverable. So there may well be a lot of folk that do have access and don’t know about it.

The easiest way to find out is to log into the official forums and see if you can see the Rohan Beta threads. If you can, then you should have access to the test on Bullroarer.

Now if this is the case and you find yourself “in the beta”, you obviously can’t say that you’re “in the beta”, because of the NDA.  However, if true, this nugget of information is worth checking out, because it would be a bummer to miss out on the beta test through no fault of your own.

Are emails that difficult to deliver?

  1. “Ok, we are set to start our festival, lets just check the MMO news to see what else is going on- oh, no! Guild Wars 2 has their final beta weekend event happening, DELAY FOR 1 WEEK!”

  2. I really HIGHLY doubt because of the GW2 Beta weekend event….

    • I would hazard a guess that the “last minute issues” are bonafide technical problems.

  3. Emails are easy enough to send, very difficult to know if they’ll arrive, given the amount of spam filtering that goes on at various places, with varying degrees of effectiveness and false positive problems.

Honestly, it’s almost a wonder that email is useful at all.
